Privacy & confidentiality

How IN CONFIDENCE treats your conversations, documents and personal information.

Confidentiality

Your conversations, documents and personal information are treated as confidential. IN CONFIDENCE will not contact your employer, colleagues, recruiter, lawyer or any other third party unless you ask for this and consent in writing.

Confidentiality may be limited only where disclosure is legally required or where there is a serious and immediate risk of harm.

How your information is handled

  • Only information reasonably necessary to deliver the agreed service is collected and kept.
  • Personal data is handled in line with UK data protection law and used only to provide your service, take payment and meet legal obligations.
  • Documents are shared and stored through Secure upload through this website, not ordinary email attachments where avoidable.
  • Records are kept for no longer than necessary, normally 12 months after your service ends, then securely deleted. You can ask for earlier deletion, subject to any legal obligation to retain information.
  • Sessions are not recorded unless you ask and we agree in advance.

Using this service responsibly

Please do not share anything you are not entitled to disclose, including classified material, trade secrets, client or customer data, or information covered by a confidentiality obligation you cannot lawfully set aside. Redact or summarise sensitive details. Useful advice rarely depends on them, and your own obligations to your employer remain yours to meet.

Conflicts of interest

IN CONFIDENCE may decline or stop accepting an engagement where there is an actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest that could affect independence or confidentiality. This may include situations involving a current or former employer, a connected organisation, another client or circumstances where confidential information could create a conflict. Where appropriate and lawful, you will be informed and any unused fees for undelivered work will be refunded.
